3 Things To Know If You Want To Lose Weight
Here are a few quick pointers that will save you a lot of time and headache prior to changing your lifestyle in order to lose some weight.
1) Overall daily movement is just as important as exercise.
The amount of movement that you do throughout your day can make up such a large percentage of your daily energy expenditure. You are more likely to lose more body fat if you have an active lifestyle outside of your scheduled workouts at the gym than if you were to just be sedentary throughout the day and then workout for an hour.
In order to take advantage of this you must find ways to inject more movement into your days. Examples: Be upright, fidget and walk as much as you can throughout your workday, go for walks during your free time and even change the positions you are in frequently while you watch TV.
2) Counting your calories is unnecessary.
Counting calories can not only be tedious but also extremely inaccurate. Which is why I do not recommend it. Instead simply begin eating when you are hungry and stop when you are sated but not stuffed.
Will this work on any diet?
No. Eating processed foods can actually trick your body into eating more of them, which will lead to you bypassing your body's actual hunger cues. Eat high quality food and you won't have any problems.
3) Losing weight is all about convincing, courting and persuading your body.
If you have been at a certain weight for a long time, it will take time for you to get to a different weight. Be it weight loss or weight gain. The reason why is because your body has adjusted and adapted to your current weight based on what you have exposed it to.
All of the biochemical and metabolic processes that your body has right now, have been conditioned, by you, for the past 5, 10 or even 20 years. To expect your body to change everything that it has grown accustomed to doing for the past 10 years to then permanently change in the next 10 days in absurd. The best, and quickest way to see permanent weight loss is to implement new strategies into your lifestyle gradually and consistently. By doing this your body will not perceive these new lifestyle changes as a threat and will ultimately get rid of body fat.
These are a few quick tips on what to expect before you embark on your weight loss journey.
